LEP 2019 Portland – Here are just a few of the seminars that will be held at theWest Coast Estonian Days in Portland July 31 – August 4

Estonian Language Skills
If your Estonian is feeling a little rusty, there is good news. We have a short free seminar to help you brush up on your speaking. It will be Thursday morning, just before Rahvapidu - so you can brush up on your Estonian early-on in the festival!

Beltweaving with Katrin
Katrin MacLean is a Canadian born woman of Estonian parents. She has always been fascinated by the beautiful Estonian patterned belts and began weaving them more than 10 years ago. Intrigued by the symbols and curious to know what they mean, she has spent as many years studying them as she has weaving them. She is excited to share this knowledge and how to weave them at this year's LEP.

The International Estonian Centre project. Honouring the past. Building for the future.
The International Estonian Centre in downtown Toronto will be a dynamic hub showcasing our rich heritage and promoting Estonian innovation. It will be a vibrant gathering place for Estonians of all generations and backgrounds to connect, celebrate, and share our culture and achievements with each other and the world when it opens in mid-2021. This livestream interactive seminar event will feature a presentation by Alar Kongats, 3-time recipient of the Governor General Award, and architect of the new International Estonian Centre. After the presentation, Alar and members of the project team will answer your questions about the project, and welcome your thoughts on making this centre truly “international.”
