Maurice A. 1947 – 2018.

Suddenly, in Montreal, on May 3, 2018, at the age of 71. Maurice was born in Paris, France, where his parents were temporarily resident.

He obtained a B.A. at College St-Laurent followed by a B.C.L. from McGill University. He spent his career as a partner at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP (formerly Martineau Walker) during which he was Chairman of the Board of Martineau Walker (1997-2003) and Chairman of the Firm (1992-2003). He received many honors during his career including the Order of Canada, the Jubilee Medal, as well as the distinction Advocatus Emeritus from the Quebec Bar. As a passionate contributor to the arts, he was President of the Conseil des Arts de Montréal and the donor of a contemporary art collection to the Musée d'art de Joliette.
In 2009 he was named personality of the year (Arts/Business category) by the Montreal Conseil des Arts and the Montreal Chambre de Commerce. He served on the board of many Montreal health, educational and artistic institutions, including as Chairman of the Boards of the Douglas Hospital, Dawson College, Heritage Montreal and the Association of Corporate Collections.

In his position as the Honorary Estonian Consul in Montreal, he was a generous supporter, friend and counsel to the Montreal Estonian community.

A Spoken Liturgy, in the presence of the ashes will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at the Sacré-Coeur-de-Jésus church, located at 1471 Ontario East, Montreal.
