EstDocs15 Cover Design Competition!

2018 is a double big year for Estonians
2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia and the 15th year of EstDocs, the largest annual Estonian cultural event outside of Estonia.

We’re marking this special year by announcing an open competition for our cover design -- and have put aside a whopping $1,500 award! Not only will the winning design be on the cover of our festival brochure, we’ll use it as the banner, on the website, on our social media, and in all advertisements as well.

This cover design is what our audiences see each and every day of the festival before the films are shown. It’s a real opportunity to get exposure for your creative genius since your name will be credited wherever possible for the design.

Do you have what it takes to submit an idea? Do you know someone who does? We welcome all submissions, so please don't be shy.

In case you didn't know, EstDocs is a not-for-profit festival showcasing the best of Estonian documentary film in Toronto. The festival mission is to provide a 360 perspective on Estonian history, politics, arts, culture and more and we welcome everyone, Estonian or not, to join us at our events.

What’s the Competition All About?
At this point, we need a concept – just a concept, not final product. The final product will evolve in collaboration with the Festival Director who will call upon the EstDocs Festival Director Team for input. The concept should include the roughed out visual image as well as consideration for the placement of the EstDocs logo and festival dates. Now, to be clear: We're looking for the cover design CONCEPT so you don't have to put all of the finishing touches on your submission.
The winner will need to spend time with us to:
take the concept to the final version, and
modify the cover design to fit our banner dimensions.
Unless you provide us with the source files (your option), we’ll need your help resizing the image for web, advertising, posters, social media pages, etc., during lead-up to the festival.
EstDocs will have exclusive use of the final designs.
Timelines?
Cover concepts must be submitted no later February 20, 2018. There is no limit on number of submissions per artist.
The Festival Director Team will select the winning cover concept by February 28 and the winner will be immediately notified.
Please note that the decision of the Festival Director Team is final.

How to Submit?
By submitting to the contest, you agree to the terms we’ve outlined in this notice.
Upload the 300 DPI concept for 8 x 10.5 to a sharing site of your choice (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.).
Email the link of the concept to info@estdocs.com along with your name, phone number and the best email address to reach you.
Also, while additional information (such as EstDocs15, website www.estdocs.com, etc.) can be added they don’t need to be on the cover concept you submit.
