Oma pidukõnes märkis hr. Lehtonen ära Soome riigi kaasaja suured saavutused maailmas ja tõstis esile, et “To have good times you need friends close and far, in the global world. Canada is a very special friend to Finland. Northern, arctic, sharing the same values. A strategic and political partner for us and the whole European Union. A like-minded supporter of rules based cooperation in international organisations. It is like having a Nordic cousin on the other side of the Ocean and of the North Pole”. Hr. Lehtonen lisas oma kõnes, et “Canada is the third biggest hub of people with Finnish heritage outside Finland. It is so natural and self-evident for them to be happy Canadians and proud Finns at the same time. What a great strength of this country, to be able to prosper through bringing together people of so many different origins.”
Soome suursaadiku järel võttis sõna minister Hajdu, kes on pärit Thunder Bay’st, kus elab ligi 14,000 Soome päritoluga kanadalast.
Suursaadiku vastuvõtule lisas erilise meeleolu lauljanna Julia Keasti Sibeliuse “Finlandia” esitus ja keelpilliansambli esinemine.
“Yhdessä” ehk üheskoos tähistasid soomlased oma sõpradega pidulikult seda nii tähtsat ajaloolist juubelit Kanada pealinnas.
