PHOTOS – Pan Am Archery

Wednesday July 15 dawned sunny and cool, with a brisk north wind. The University of Toronto's Varsity Stadium was the venue for Archery. From a distance of 70 meters, archers aim at a target 122 cm in diameter, with the bull's eye exactly one tenth of that measure. Six arrows are shot at a time. In the Individual Elimination round that was occurring today, the two young Canadians, Virgine Chenier and Georcy Thiffeault Picard were paired against each other.

For this interested in the photographic aspects, camera settings were fairly routine. However, the rules of photographer behaviour were very strict because of the quiet and concentration needed by the athletes in this event. We had to follow a photo manager escort to the target area. Side shots of the archers were permitted and I was fortunate that the Canadians were near by (and both are right-handed).
