Throughout the evening, the old adage “absence makes the heart grow fonder” proved itself to be true over and over again. After a two-year pandemic pause, the exuberance of the women was palpable in the sights and sounds of women reconnecting, of friends rejoicing at the sight of each other. On this occasion, the atmosphere of the annual anniversary was even more emotionally charged than usual as “amicad” recalled joyful as well as sad events from the previous years when togetherness was not possible.
Thriving both in Estonia and abroad, korp! Amicitia will celebrate its 100-year milestone in two years’ time, in November 2024…
Korp! Amicitia’s Toronto Chapter was established in November 1952 by a group of “amicad” who fled the second Soviet Invasion and occupation of Estonia in 1944. Among them were two of the founding members of the Tartu Chapter, which was established on November 24, 1924. Thriving both in Estonia and abroad, korp! Amicitia will celebrate its 100-year milestone in two years’ time, in November 2024, thus joining the venerable second-century ranks of their sister organizations ENÜS, Filiae Patriae, and Indla.
