It was a highly productive and positive working day with organization representatives and youth delegates from across Canada in attendance along with Estonian ambassador Margus Rava. Global Estonian special ambassador Marin Mõttus with advisors Kadri Linnas and Liina Viies joined virtually for part of the day from Tallinn.
The morning agenda included greetings, introduction activities, and highly informative presentations from each organization about the important work they do in their communities. It was affirming to see and hear that we share similar hopes and aspirations, as well as many of the same challenges.
In the afternoon, council heard the latest news about the Global Estonian Program and upcoming ESTO 2025 events from the global Estonian team on Zoom, and financials were presented and approved. The day ended with a lecture and discussion about current geopolitical challenges and ECC’s political work facilitated by prof. Andres Kasekamp.

Time was built in for tours of KESKUS and VEMU, as well as lunch, wine and kringel.
Follow up council events include virtual strategic planning, and media & communications training.
Building a supportive culture of collaboration and mutual respect is more important than ever in these uncertain and precarious times. This past weekend clearly demonstrated that the Estonian – Canadian community is stronger when we listen to each other and work together. Koostöös edasi!
