The visit provided an excellent opportunity to renew collaborations between the EU and B.C., as well as Canada on the whole, in areas of mutual interest such as trade, energy, raw materials, science, technology, and the green transition. Honorary Consul to Estonia in Vancouver, Evaleen Jaager Roy, and myself as Honorary Vice Consul, attended two key events.
Ambassador Tuts spoke at a roundtable event hosted by the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade on enhancing EU-B.C. trade and investment. The roundtable included approximately fifteen business leaders from various sectors. Her face lit up when Evaleen asked about how the EU might better market the tech leadership of EU member states such as Estonia. Evaleen citied how valuable this would be as support for the work we are doing in connecting Estonian companies like Nortal to the B.C. Government and other players. The Ambassador spoke at some length about Estonia simply being the best in the world in digital leadership and how she will make a note with her team that the EU must do a better job at marketing such expertise. She also referenced several meetings she had in Estonia.
