Today, Estonia is marking the 34th anniversary of the restoration of its independence with a variety of events across the nation. In Tartu, celebrations are set to include speeches from city officials, live music from the Tartu Wind Orchestra and other performers, and a “freedom dance” at Koidula and Jannsen Memorial Square. The bells of Tartu Town Hall will also play patriotic songs throughout the day and evening.

Meanwhile, in Tallinn, the capital is hosting a traditional concert at Harjumägi Square, a flag-raising ceremony in Mustamäe, and a live concert by Ott Lepland in Männi Park. The Vabamu Museum of Occupations and Freedom is also contributing to the festivities with workshops.

The day's solemnities have already begun with a memorial ceremony at the Stone of August 20th in Tallinn, where Prime Minister Kristen Michal and Riigikogu Speaker Lauri Hussar laid memorial bouquets. Following this, the Club of August 20 held a traditional meeting at Toompea Castle. You can see a gallery of photos from these events from ERR here.
