Is Matsalu Nature Reserve for the birds?

When visiting Estonia, are you tired of eating huge pork chops, drinking too much, and hanging out with your relatives? Then it's time to get outdoors and enjoy some Estonian nature!

Done all the sites of Tallinn ad nauseam (how many shots of Vana Tallinn can one drink in Raekoja Plats?) Time to get out of Tallinn, take a day trip to the countryside and get some exercise.

Why not visit Matsalu National Park for bird watching, hiking, canoeing, or bicycling? It is just under a two-hour drive west of Tallinn.

There are two ways to see Matsalu. You cannot take a bus or train. You either rent a car or take one of the tours (see below) that start in Tallinn and bring you back to Tallinn the same evening. As you are in digital/start-up Estonia, rent a car with an app like CityBee. The famous Estonian start-up company Bolt (the parent company of Hopp in Toronto) offers "Bolt Drive" as an app car rental, yet, currently their Customer Support is responding that Ontario driver's licenses are not accepted by their app. Or use a traditional car rental company. Save some money and avoid the big name, international car rental companies and rent from a local Estonian car rental company like Yes Rent.
