Planning a week in Estonia begins with choosing the right season. Light, weather, and the rhythm of daily life shift sharply across the year, shaping every day of a short stay when you travel to this country. And if you would rather avoid a whirlwind tour of towns and villages, the capital, Tallinn, remains the most natural place to begin.

Tallinn’s coastal climate is very humid and prone to sharp shifts throughout the year, something worth keeping in mind when choosing your travel dates. After four years in Estonia, I have noticed that the year here feels more finely divided than the familiar four-season cycle: smaller periods, each with its own light, mood, and practical demands. Let us look at the advantages and drawbacks of each.
