Rahvajõulupuu/An Estonian Christmas goes Online!

In a normal year, we would be deep into the planning for the 9th annual Rahvajõulupuu / An Estonian Christmas. Of course 2020 is anything BUT a normal year. As resourceful Estonians who love Christmas cheer, we can’t let Covid stop us. So, this year we will be taking Rahvajõulupuu online!

We are planning for a “microsite” on www.estonianfoundation.ca as a virtual celebration of our community from December 10-24 when everyone can virtually visit our community.

Highlights Include:

  • Virtual “Suur Saal”: each organization will have their own page within the event and will provide their own content, photos, videos and links
  • Virtual Marketplace sponsored by Northern Birch Credit Union where all Estonian or Estonian-friendly businesses can profile themselves and provide a link to their shops, profiles or websites.
  • Virtual Kohvik – featuring videos and recipes from our own Paul Lillakas as well as some great events from the VEMU video vault.
  • Virtual Stage/Lava – featuring videos of talented performers, choirs and folk dancing from our own community. And, camera crews are on their way to the North Pole right now to connect with Santa himself to make sure he can make it too – it wouldn’t be Christmas without him!
  • Door Prizes – No Rahvajõulupuu would not be complete without the chance to win a door prize! EFC will coordinate a scavenger-hunt type contest complete with prizes for visitors!
  • …and more!

If you have questions, would like to exhibit in the virtual marketplace, or have other ideas you’d like to contribute, please contact Estonian Foundation of Canada as soon as possible: info@estonianfoundation.ca
