Markus and Matteo were both high school students from Mississauga who met during their battles with cancer. Despite facing immense challenges—Markus with Osteosarcoma and Matteo with Chordoma—the boys formed a powerful friendship, supporting each other every step of the way. Their families, too, formed a deep bond, and out of that connection came the idea for a golf tournament to honour their memory and continue the fight against childhood cancer.
Markus was of Estonian heritage, a proud part of his identity that shaped his strong spirit and character.
The first tournament in 2024 saw 123 golfers raise over $20,000, which was donated to Sick Kids Hospital, Holland Bloorview Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Chordoma Foundation. A scholarship was also established at their school to celebrate the legacy of both boys.
This year’s event—on Sunday August 10th—will feature a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start in a best-ball format, followed by a deluxe banquet with awards, raffles, and a silent auction. It promises to be a day of fun, community spirit, and meaningful impact.
Players, sponsors, and prize donors are all welcome. For more information, or to register or contribute, visit: app.eventcaddy.com/events/2025-matteo-markus-charity-golf-classic or contact David Hogg at david.hogg@rogers.com.
Let’s come together to honour Markus and Matteo—and help make a difference in the lives of other children and families facing cancer.
