When studying the rollout of autonomous delivery robots in Eesti Elu back in the year 2020, the narrative was largely defined by systemic uncertainty. It was a mixed landscape. A minefield even, of strict municipal regulations, public skepticism, and fundamental doubt over whether a low-speed automated fleet could ever offset its own maintenance expenses. Now it’s time to evaluate how far things have come.

Sidewalk couriers once felt like a localized novelty of sorts, struggling to exist in the real world, albeit with a heightened purpose during a pandemic. Now that experimental phase has long passed. Driven by technological advancements and high-profile corporate integrations, autonomous sidewalk delivery has evolved from a speculative tech trend into a more readily-accepted part of the mechanical tools we use.
