Commentary: More on the Ontario Progressive Conservative (OPC) follies

We now have another two candidates in the race, Tanya Granic Allen and Patrick Brown, the former leader of the OPC and leader of the opposition, who now has absolved himself of aggressive courtship, which begs the question why did quit in the first place.

In the meantime Brown was kicked out of the OPC  making him ineligible to run for the leadership. which he gave up just weeks ago. Brown has taken a lie detector test successfully and proven that the lady in question was indeed of courtship age. Brown however has been accused by Randy Hillier MPP that he has been involved in fraudulent business transactions with persons who now were catapulted as candidates into ridings.

While all this is going on, the OPC are still at 49% of the polls with Liberals trailing with 21% and the NDP IN 16% despite the fighting going on.

Among the leadership candidates the polls read Christine Elliott leading at 21%, Doug Ford at 16%, Caroline Mulroney at 14%, Patrick Brown at 13%, and Allen with 4%.

At an all candidates debate held on TVO (Ontario owned TV station) moderated by Steve Paikin and involving Allen, Elliott, Ford and Mulroney, Allen came across the feistiest and most conservative yet name recognition wise the least known. Allen is a grassroots activist with heavy accent on opposition to the teaching of sex education in pre first grade. Most of the other candidates agreed.

All of the original four (Elliott, Ford, Mulroney and Allen) are against the Brown-escapades as a distraction from the real job, and that is fighting Premier Kathleen Wynne.
