Enno Arulaid, LEP San Francisco – ESTO 2013 organizer

My name is Enno Arulaid, born in Tallinn in 1951. After moving to the town of Saku I joined the local folk dance troupe partially to find friends and be part of the local scene. As of now I have danced with the "Pangviina" group for 25 years.

Since no experienced folk dancer lives in San Francisco, then Ingrid asked if I could organize the folk dancing festival.

As it offered an interesting challenge I took on the responsibility of coordinating the participants. I have been involved since 2011.

I have attempted to locate individuals world-wide who were active in Estonian folk dancing and also in participating in San Francisco. I have now been in contact with many and have become acquainted with their activity in developing Estonian cultural abroad. To my surprise Estonian folk dancing is popular both in and outside of Estonia. Dancers come in all ages, young and not so young.

It's now clear as to who is participating in ESTO 2013. Together we have ascertained as to who is capable and what are the expectations of the dancers. “Piirideta Eesti”, the folk dance festival, will be the show for a program jointly created.

I've had the luck to find good colleagues with the professionalism to help in assembling the artistic package: Talvar Tali from Boston and Triin Aas from Kiili. Dancers from Estonia are expected from Tallinn, Tabasalu, Saku and Kiili.

The show at the Yorba Buena Gardens will meet your highest expectations. See you there.
