Estonian Music Week Jam at DROM Taberna

On the night of Wednesday May 21st, Estonian Music Week fans, current and former EMW artists, and lovers of music made their way through the incessant rain to see Hypnosis Negative—Toronto’s resident Estonian folk fusion band—lead a jam session and dance party at DROM Taberna in downtown Toronto, to kick off Estonian Music Week.

Hypnosis Negative started the night with some songs featuring their core members, but soon after, people came onto the stage from throughout the venue with their instruments to play along with them.

Hypnosis Negative originals, traditional melodies, an invigorating Ukrainian wedding song from Crimea (sung by Nastasia Y), funky drum beats, tap dancing, choruses of flute (including Siim Sõmer from The Crosslegs) and violins—what audiences saw was an exciting vision of what's to come in this year's festival.
