Friday at KESKfEST started with forward-looking industry discussions before shifting into evening celebrations. The morning began with the Nordic Connect Conference keynote panel, opening the floor to creative cross-pollination and insights on the evolving international music landscape. By midday, focus turned to design and identity at the “Urban Belonging” luncheon. Canadian Architect editor-in-chief Elsa Lam led a compelling conversation with Estonia’s first state architect Tõnis Arjus and KESKUS architect Alar Kongats, discussing how thoughtful architecture shapes community space and deepens our sense of home.
As evening approached, Estonian academic traditions were celebrated nearby at Tartu College for the ac! org cantusõhtu. Members of Estonian fraternities, sororities, and societies gathered to uphold long-standing student customs, filling the hall with Estonian songs and fellowship.
The energy culminated back in the festival tent for Meie Möll (Our Party). High-energy Estonian pop-funk outfit Arg Part took the stage and delivered an ecclectic set that had the crowd dancing, amping up the festival atmosphere late into the night.
