Important notice: West Coast Estonian Days 2015

It's less than 100 days until we welcome you to Lääneranniku Eesti Päevad (West Coast Estonian Days) at beautiful Whistler, British Columbia, August 5 through 9, 2015. We are thrilled to be able to present to you many talented groups of singers, dancers and musicians from Estonia – Noorkuu, Saaremaa men's choir, Eesti Rahvus Ooper, Vanemuine Ballet, Justament, Võlukeeled, just to name a few. Keep an eye out for future newspaper articles featuring these and the other amazing performers who are coming for your entertainment pleasure. And of course, our beloved favorites will also be here to delight and keep the fun flowing – Puus Brothers, the Teose-Tork band, Vancouver's own Kilplased folk dance troupe and many, many more.

Getting to Whistler is easy! It is only 125 km north of Vancouver along the breathtakingly beautiful Sea-to-Sky Highway. From YVR airport there are multiple bus lines running frequently throughout the day. Go to lep2015.com for more information. For those who like to travel in style, book a private limo from YVR – – multi-passenger discounts may apply! For those who like adventure and something out of the ordinary – try taking a sea plane from YVR or downtown Vancouver Harbour directly to Green Lake. How cool would that be?

In addition to enjoying the traditional LEP scheduled events, Whistler is a very family-friendly, all season resort. One can bicycle along scenic winding trails or mountain bike down the ski runs; rent a canoe or kayak; hike the mountain trails; ski or snowboard the glacier (yes, even in the summer), and July 2015 will see the opening of the longest zip line – 2 km from Whistler Mountain to Blackcomb Mountain. Now that's super cool!

So, bring your kids. In addition to the “mountain” of things for them to do, the LEP team has planned activities which will appeal to our younger generation attendees. These events will facilitate introductions of North American Estonians with young people from Estonia. As those of us long-time LEP attendees know, this is where we make connections that turn into life-long friendships.

On Sunday, August 9 part of the festival will come to Vancouver for those who are unable to make it up to Whistler. St. Peter's / Meie Kodu's 11 am church service will feature Helen Lokuta and René Eespere. Finally, LEP 2015 has organized a choral concert by some of the visiting Estonian and North American choirs for the greater Vancouver public at the lovely Chan Centre at University of British Columbia.

Come early to enjoy the summer hiking pass or play a round of golf before LEP – or stay longer to get in more hiking at Whistler, or explore what BC and Vancouver have to offer. See lep2015.com for hotel reservations and to purchase event tickets.

OOTAME TEID ☺
