Let’s take a pause from finding someone to blame

To say that many active members of our community are angry or upset would be an understatement. Perhaps infuriated or even enraged might be more apt.

The tone of online comments on websites shows the deep emotional involvement with the issues involving the sale of Toronto Estonian House and the possible sale of St. Peter’s Church.

Since most of the comments are submitted unnamed, they’re often malicious, nasty, deliberately hurtful. Cowards hide behind anonymity when belittling opponents’ intelligence or laughing off their motives.

At the risk of being flippant and frivolous, I am trying to defuse, not trivialize, tension by taking a break away from the deeply-rooted arguments consuming many of us.

A Hiidlane once said that those without a sense of humor lack good judgment. Some words of wisdom:

If you can’t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague. There’s always something for which one can be thankful. I’m here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don’t hurt.
