Mayor Rob Ford has his Annual Picnic but at a Scarborough park, not his home

The Thompson Memorial Park in Scarborough was the venue for the (mayor Rob) Ford family picnic, not the mayor's home where it is usually held, nor even Etobicoke, the Ford family political home. But that makes sense since the Ford backyard could not accommodate 5-15,000 people.

Scarborough went for Ford in a big way during the last mayoral election. The "Ford Nation" T-shirts, which ran out before the official beginning at six in the afternoon defined his support as they stood in line for the very good hamburgers, wine (Chilean) and beer, and a chance to shake Mayor Rob Ford's hand.

Ford, dressed in a black suit, surrounded by three huge bodyguards also dressed in matching black suits (there were three policemen further back) shook hands with his supporters, who were dutifully lined up.

This was a message to his political opponents as well as the “John Torys”, “don't mess with the Ford Nation.” These were non transferrable votes.

After a day of rainfall it stopped for the picnic. Talk about a Teflon mayor.
