Montreal’s St. John’s Lutheran Church – 65

In Montreal it was a bitterly cold day on Sunday January 26, 2014. Despite the grip of winter, dedicated and enthusiastic members of the congregation of Montreal St. John's Lutheran Church gathered to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the church. The service was officiated by both Rev. Kyllikki Pitts and Rev. Kalle Kadakas, invited from Toronto to attend this special event. At the service, the council members investiture included blessings for the upcoming year.

The Council will include Anne Altosaar, Hille Viires, Piret Koppel, Elmar Ani, Tiiu Poldma, Innar Teose, Jules Smeets, Mary Mannapso, Victor Vaus, Memme Sultson, and Aino Arik. The investiture occurred during the church service after which the congregation and new Council members attended a luncheon in the Church reception hall. At the luncheon that followed, co-chair Hille Viires welcomed everyone and presented a brief overview of the beginnings of the church. The congregation was founded by Rev. Karl Raudsepp in 1949 and has had a rich history in the community. In conclusion, she hoped that we would be here again to celebrate next year's church anniversary. After a wonderful luncheon with coffee and dessert, Innar Teose thanked visiting pastor Kalle Kadakas as well as all those who helped make the event a success.
