Seedrioru campers try their hand at journalism

At Eesti Elu, we often think about the future of journalism. With the creation of our new website, we wanted to further our purpose in the community - to inform and connect, to be a community hub. With our new columns, we strive to give more Estonian perspectives on business, lifestyle, and news topics. We also want to work together with the younger generations to involve them in their community, their culture, and the news even more.

Some of Seedrioru's campers gathered together for the Eesti Elu journalism workshop

So, earlier this summer, the juhatajad and kasvatajad at Seedrioru joined hands with Eesti Elu in running a journalism workshop as part of the camp curriculum. Led by Local Journalism Initiative journalist (and Jõekääru summer camp alumna) Natalie Jenkins, the youth at Seedrioru learned about objective reporting, research and interviewing, and how to write a news article. They also had a chance to have fun with the act of writing—and the result is what you see below.

Suur aitäh to everyone at Seedrioru for participating in this workshop and being part of the future of Eesti Elu!

“The snail babysitting”

by Jaani

“At Seedrioru, people were making shelters in the forest. They saw lots of snails, so somebody came up with the idea of a snail babysitting company. Here, they babysit or adopt snails. You can also adopt snails if you want. So if you want snails, go to Seedrioru!"
