PHOTOS – Sügis Talgud Celebration!

Friends, family and supporters of Seedrioru participated in a highly successful "Fall Talgud" last weekend with over 70 volunteers cutting wood, renovating, cleaning and cooking for the massive work force! The day was followed by a fantastic pig roast, social, dance and Sauna.

The primary work focus for the weekend was the start of the renovation of the shooting range that recently became possible due to an exciting and new partnership between Seedrioru and the Toronto Estonian Rifle and Pistol Club (TEPP). "We are very proud of the new relationship we are establishing with another important Estonian-Canadian organization in order to secure our future as well as sharing with others" said Eric Tiisler, Seedrioru talgud organizer.
“The response from the Hamilton, Kitchener, St Catherine's and London Estonian Societies, Alumni and parents of current Summer Camp youth has been overwhelming. We have exceeded our wildest expectations in terms of jobs completed due to over 200 people that have been involved with work throughout the season with the wonderful wave of energy and excitement from people interested in preserving our beloved Seedrioru's future. The very generous gift from the estate of Henry Tark has reinvigorated and strengthened the commitment to stewardship of Seedrioru. With our hard working, progressive, and flexible Juhatus, the future is looking very promising. Our biggest task is to ensure that the gift is spent effectively and efficiently as possible. All of the upgrades required by Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Health regulatory requirements are very significant and very expensive. We have one chance to get this right in order to achieve sustainability for the long term.”

Eric HessProjects Completed this Year:
This year we were able to achieve some big projects. Renovation of the Sauna headed by Lembit Nielander and Toomas Maripuu is receiving a new hearth, wash station, change room and roof. The painting of the exterior of the Main Hall was completed to increase rental potential, the barn and basketball court stage roofs were headed and completed by Andrew Zuch, the fencing around the pond was replaced while years of brush was cleared.

Projects for next year:
Next spring, our hope is that we can progress with the renovation of the Summer Camp Cabins and Amphitheatre in order to meet and exceed ministry requirements and rental opportunities. Of course we are anxiously awaiting the Ministry of Environment's response to our sewage treatment plan proposal as well.
