Tartu College, established in 1970, is a distinctive independent student residence and educational cultural centre. We are a Not-For-Profit organization dedicated to providing a unique and enriching experience for university students during the academic term.
Named after the prestigious University of Tartu in Estonia, we are committed to fostering public knowledge and preserving the cultural, historical, and artistic heritage of Estonia. What will you do?
As an Assistant Building Manager at Tartu College, you will be an integral part of our management team, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of our residence. Your role is vital in ensuring the comfort, safety, and overall quality of life for our diverse community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support: Provide assistance and support to the Building Manager, addressing inquiries, concerns of residents and customers.
- Front Desk Supervision: Oversee Front Desk operations, including scheduling and the recruitment of Front Desk attendants to maintain a high level of service.
Collaborate with the Building Manager to support the following responsibilities:
- Property Operations: Support the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and housekeeping, to ensure high-quality service and maintenance.
- Property Inspections: Conduct and schedule regular inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance, coordinating necessary repairs.
- Maintenance and Vendor Management: Coordinate and keep records of property maintenance, repairs, and vendor interactions to maintain the property in good condition.
- Safety and Emergency Response: Ensure safety compliance, handle routine safety inspections, and collaborate with the Building Manager in emergency situations.
- Property Maintenance: Supervise and directly engage in comprehensive property upkeep, encompassing tasks like A/C unit cleaning, bedroom, and bathroom fixture maintenance, as well as general property maintenance, including power washing, exterior upkeep and snow removal and office equipment relocations.
- Surveillance and Security: Monitor and maintain surveillance and security systems to ensure continuous operation. Control property access.
- Event Setup: Help with event setup and support for IT systems at the Event Space, ensuring successful events and maintaining the functionality of IT equipment.
- Other duties as may be required.
Desired Experience and Skillset:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the property management maintenance or construction industry.
- A relevant degree and/or certificates are preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong supervisory capabilities, flexibility and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, or other Office software, especially Excel.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to maintain precise records.
- A progressive hands-on mindset with a keen eye for identifying deficiencies and addressing accountability.
- Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with the public, students, and staff.
- Basic IT support capabilities.
- Proficiency in Estonian is an asset but not mandatory.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary range: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year depending on skill set.

Working Schedule:
8-hour shift, Monday to Friday
Work Location: In person in the Annex, Toronto
