Game Time: Jurgelis

With Noorte laulu-ja tantsupidu (the Youth Song and Dance Celebration) coming up at the beginning of July, kids can get excited with a bit of spontaneous dancing of their own!

As 100 rahvamängu lastele points out on their website (along with the game's song lyrics and other info about the game), this is a Lithuanian game originally. “Jurgelis” is a Lithuanian boy's name.

To begin, all players need to stand around in a circle holding hands, with one player in the middle. As the game's song plays, the circle rotates around this middle player, the leader. The leader does any kind of movement they choose. Then the other players need to copy them. Finally, the leader chooses a new player, who becomes the leader in the middle instead.
