We get it, scouring though grammar books and dictionaries is not an appealing way to study for many people. It's preferable to have your learning structured for you, especially when language learning has to be added onto an already busy day.
Which is why the free online course Keeleklikk is so exciting. Launched in 2011, the course breaks the basics of the Estonian language into 13 distinct units (including careers, being at home, and ordering at restaurants).
Each unit's lessons (available in English) alternate between cartoons, quizzes to test your memory and comprehension, and funny video skits featuring the character Pille-Riin. At the end of some units, you are also able to write a message from the platform to a real teacher who will review your Estonian writing.
If you have even 10 minutes a day to spare and want to learn Estonian, this is the site for you.
We still recommend attending classes and talking in-person to other Estonian-speakers, but this is a fantastic way to pick up your first words and phrases and build the confidence to speak from day one.
