Learn Estonian with these fun games and exercises!

Are you a parent looking for an online resource to help teach your child Estonian? Are you a teacher seeking new language-learning materials for your classroom?

If so, consider using Digital Dialects—a website offering interactive games, quizzes, and vocabulary lists with audio to learn over 75 languages. It’s a site for students of all ages.

The Estonian language section features eight interactive learning modules and games best suited for elementary-level students. These include colours, numbers, popular vocabulary, fruit and vegetables, animals, food and drinks, and Baltic geography. Students at a more advanced level may consider trying the vocabulary builders. Each of these games features interactive animations designed to create a relaxed, yet effective, alternative to learning from material-dense textbooks.

Launched in 2007 by educational game developer Craig Gibson, Digital Dialects is the by-product of a dissertation that reviewed web resources for language learning. It was conceived as an educational tool for learning languages, according to the site. The animated activities, all designed by Gibson, are “intended to incorporate the interactivity of computer-aided language learning software with the web-design principle of simplicity in use and access.”

Digital Dialects does not require registration and all activities are offered free of charge. All language learning activities on this platform are designed to be compatible with modern browsers. They are also mobile-friendly and especially well-suited for use on tablets or other personal devices, according to the site. Find the website here.
