PHOTOS – Leo, the Leafs and a Baltic connection

Leo Komarov continues to show leadership to a rebuilding Toronto Maple Leafs team. His own work ethic is unquestioned, both offensively and on defense. In addition to his starting role and leading the Leafs in points this season, Leo has also emerged as a mentor to a new crop of Baltic-connected young players. Nylander (number 39) is from Sweden. Kapanen (number 37) is from Finland. Both have been stars with the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League. For the last three games, including the 2-1 loss to Minnesota on March 3, coach Babcock has given these youngsters a chance to experience hockey at the highest level. At the post game press conference, Babcock lauded the energy and the teamwork demonstrated by Nylander and Kapanen. It is likely that both will return to the Marlies in order to help the top-ranked Marlies with their goal of winning the Calder Cup in the AHL this season. The focus of the photo gallery was "Uncle Leo" who unfortunately was unable to score his 19th goal of the season. And regrettably, his penalty led to Minnesota's game winning power play goal. Photographer's luck captured all three goals in this closely fought contest.
