Let the sun shine in

Nesting season has arrived! Everyone has a nest (pesa) in which they nest (pesitsevad). Some birds prefer a pesa/kast (nesting box) up high, just as some people prefer a high-rise (kõrghoone). Some prefer densely populated (tihedalt asustatud) buildings, while others a single family home or eramu.
The SOLAR lamp or valgusti (light) by award-winning designer Jaanus Orgusaar (42), has the ability to cast amazing shadows and has become a design classic. It is made of 4 mm birch plywood and is 70 cm in diameter with an oil finish. 255 EUR at jaanusorgusaar.com. (Also available in a more compact 60 cm diameter version.) Photo: Riina Kindlam

An ERAmu is a type of ELAmu (dwelling, or place in which you live (elad)), that is eraldi (separate). No matter what you call home, light and shelving space (riiulid) are always paramount.

Wired UK magazine named Jaanus Orgusaar's shelving system COMB among its must-haves for 2013. Home Furniture Today has written: "These honeycomb shelves are both stylish and useful. "Comb" is a flat-pack product and very simple to build. The shelf bulges from your wall much like a sphere or sector, creating a science-fiction effect for the interior it is mounted. Available in brown, black and white birch plywood (and small, medium and large), the shelf is light-weight and one-of-a-kind." Prices range form 259 to 415 EUR. In Estonian, comb is kärg; more specifically honeycomb = mesikärg. Photo: Riina Kindlam
