For those interested in the photographic aspects, the twilight hour and the threat of rain made me choose to use my F2.8 70-200mm lens, foregoing the F5.6 200-400mm lens that I used during daylight games. Shutter speed was maintained at 1/1000 second and was mostly effective at capturing action. I put the ISO on the “auto” setting and with the eventual assistance of the stadium lights, the lighting was not too bad. The photography positions for field hockey were all in the corners, which fortunately had a good amount of play immediately in front. In addition, the referee seemed to spend more time on the other side. As the Canadian photographers were obliged to sit at the end where the Canadian team was attacking, hoping for the goal that never came, I was given plenty of room in the photographer positions on the opposite end, where all 3 Argentine goals were scored. The final two photos illustrate the support of family, both in defeat and in victory. It is a reminder that along with the uniformed colleagues standing as a team on the podium, there is always the more important team behind the scenes that is family.
