Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham hosted the inaugural 4-day golf tournament for the Pan Am games. The final round occurred on Sunday July 19 in sweltering conditions. Thunder storms were threatened for the afternoon and indeed the medal ceremony was delayed by about 30 minutes because of a downpour. The big winning country was Colombia, which won all three gold medals: men's, women's and team. Among the women, gold went to Uribe of Colombia, silver to Lee of the USA and bronze to Granada of Paraguay. For the men, Rozo of Colombia won gold, Cocha of Argentina won silver (after a 3-hole playoff) and Aguilar of Chile placed third. The team golf went to Colombia, silver to USA, bronze to Argentina. Only three Canadians participated: Lori Kane, Garrett Rank and Austin Connolly, who finished a very respectable fifth.
