Ribbon Cutting and Fireworks Open Seedrioru Shooting Range

On Saturday, June 8th, Seedrioru President Eric Tiisler and Toronto Estonian Rifle and Pistol Club (TEPP) President Markus Alliksaar cut the ribbon to festively open the new Seedrioru Shooting Range. The range had received official Chief Firearms Officer (CFO) certification earlier in the year.

To celebrate the opening, the members of TEPP introduced local Seedrioru residents and talgulised to safe firearms handling and marksmanship. Best shooters received prizes, everybody enjoyed kringel and light refreshments. The first prize went to Hunter Crossman, 2nd prize to Brennan Crossman and 3rd prize to Erik Aljas.

The original range at Seedrioru was active for many years and was included as part of the camp activities. In the late 1980's, the range fell into disuse and became a general storage area.

In 2014, when the Seedrioru juhatus undertook a revitalization program of the Seedrioru property, the abandoned shooting range received renewed attention. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Seedrioru and TEPP volunteers, the range building received a new roof, gate and fence, signage, an improved backstop with berms and other items that were required for certification. With approval from the Seedrioru juhatus, the administration and operation of the range will be carried out by TEPP and its volunteers.

The primary purpose of the range is to introduce our youth and Seedrioru campers to the sport of target shooting. It's a sport that requires dedication, concentration and mental discipline and is an excellent way to introduce these skills to a generation that often gets distracted by modern technology.
