Senior Retail Loan Officer (Toronto)

Reporting to the Manager, Retail Lending, the Senior Retail Loan Officer plays a critical role on the member service team. This position provides members with retail lending solutions including residential mortgages, personal loans, lines of credit, credit card approvals, and RRSP loans within an assigned lending limit. This position also provides personalized advice and financial solutions to members (e.g., debt consolidations). Building relationships, identifying member needs, and cross-selling lending and deposit products and services are integral to this role. This position also offers the opportunity to grow and take on additional responsibilities based on ability and career goals.

The successful candidate will have both strong technical lending/banking knowledge and effective relationship building skills. A “business builder” and “natural promoter”, the candidate will proactively contact members and help us raise our profile in the local community and significantly grow our business.

Essential requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years lending experience at a financial institution as a loans officer or equivalent
  • A related degree/ diploma or other relevant post-secondary training
  • A solid understanding of retail loans and mortgages
  • A proven track record of providing excellent customer service and meeting sales targets
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with sound judgement
  • An ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a team orientation
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Computer competence on required applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel

Assets:

  • Credit union experience
  • The ability to speak some Estonian is an asset but is not essential
