The Hon. Michael Coteau, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration spoke to Canadian Ethnic Media Association (CEMA)

After being introduced by CEMA Chair Madeline Ziniak, and his preamble about being the first minister of citizenship and immigration who is actually an immigrant, Minister Coteau came equipped with booklets issued that day by The Hon. Charles Sousa, Ontario Minister of Finance titled "Creating Jobs and Growing The Economy".

The booklet says its a three part plan for jobs and growth.

“Our government does so at a time when forces outside Ontario continue to affect our economy.” The introduction went on to say its determined to help Ontario families and businesses succeed. The chapters are trite statements that talk about high tech job training and creation.

The question period proved to be more interesting than the booklet. Of the gathered media one lady pointed out that we (Canada) have lost its manufacturing base. Now everything is made usually in China and that has destroyed our ability to make things anymore. Not everybody is capable of being a college graduate and others don't want to work in fast food. Another suggested that there could be an equalization program so that Canada shouldn't need to compete unfairly with countries that pay their workers a fraction that Canada does.

Minister Coteau said that this is not a provincial matter but we should ask the Honourable Eric Hoskins.
Its interesting that the gathered membership of CEMA could come up with the solutions to Ontario's employment questions without writing a booklet.
