Northern Birch Credit Union is here to support you on your journey towards financial well-being. The information in this article is provided as an educational overview. Each member’s financial journey is unique. We encourage you to talk to us – we can help you reach your financial goals.
Northern Birch Credit Union puts our members and community first. As shareholders, our members’ values are our priority. We work hard to invest in the things they value. We do that in many ways, including:
We invest in our young people through scholarships.
We invest in our business leaders by providing innovative approaches to financing.
We invest in the resilience of our members by providing financial education.
We invest in our community through sponsorships, promotion and participation.
Scholarships Support Young Leaders
Our children are our future business owners and leaders.
Dārija Gulēns-Taube and Sten Puust are two of our many past Northern Birch Community Roots scholarship recipients. As members of their communities, both are actively engaged in leadership and learning. With the support of a scholarship from Northern Birch, Dārija studied psychology and political science at York University and Sten is studying automotive engineering at McMaster University.
They are proud members of Northern Birch Credit Union, using the financial services to ensure their financial health. “I love the work Northern Birch Credit Union does for the community,” Dārija tells us, “and I want to be a part of that positive change.”
We put together financial strategies and help you choose the right products and services to build a sustainable future for your business.
More than that, she loves the personalized service at Northern Birch. “No more waiting in long queues.” She appreciates the effort the Northern Birch team makes in getting to know her, her unique financial needs and her goals.
We help launch new generations into education, business, and family by providing student loans, no-fee chequing and savings accounts, easy access to online and mobile banking and offering multiple products to increase their financial well-being. Most of all, we are here for our students, providing personalized service in our branches, over the phone and online.
Supporting Small Businesses
Our community has many creative and innovative members. From the very inception of the credit union, we have supported small business members in our Latvian and Estonian communities. We are flexible in the way we approach your financial needs. We understand your challenges and look for ways to serve you better. Our goal is to help the private businesses owned and operated by our members thrive.
We don’t use cookie-cutter approaches that many larger financial institutions may use. We listen to your goals, your financial needs and your unique challenges. We put together financial strategies and help you choose the right products and services to build a sustainable future for your business.
Our team is here to help you understand products, economic strategies and ways to manage your wealth.
We take the time to listen to you. We know our community is stronger when our business leaders have a healthy financial foundation.
Financial Literacy
Helping our members understand the financial tools available is a part of our mandate. We offer a variety of free seminars that both members and non-members are welcome to join, and cover a variety of topics such as mortgages, investing and the importance of a will and power of attorney. You can view some of our previous seminars on our website and check for upcoming in-person and online seminars. Our team is here to help you understand products, economic strategies and ways to manage your wealth.
Community Support
As your credit union, Northern Birch invests in the things our members support. Art and music are fundamental to our culture. Summer camps, festivals, supplementary heritage schools and events help us build strong and thriving communities. We also invest in long-term care and community living, helping all generations thrive. We encourage our members to share updates about events, helping us engage in the community.
As more Canadians are depending on credit unions to provide for the financial well-being of their families, we are here to support and help build the financial resilience of our member community. It’s your money. Your way.
