This beautifully illustrated book introduces our tiny European language to an English-speaking audience in a fun and cheeky way by translating Estonian words into English, but literally.
A fridge becomes a “cold closet”, a bra becomes a “breast holder”, and a raccoon becomes a “laundry bear”!
A labour of love and joy, the creator (Karel Polt) and the illustrator (Kristina Tort), both literally Estonians themselves, have worked on this book for the last two years, and it is just about ready to be published.

To support the printing costs, they launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, which has been incredibly successful. Kickstarter immediately recognized it as a “Project We Love” and within a week they reached their funding goal.
You can snatch a copy for yourself and your friends before the campaign ends on August 7th here.
Check out the introductory video for more literal translations, featuring a small “sea virgin” (merineitsi, mermaid)!
