Plan a 2024 winter escape with KLENK-IEP!

Many of us are still enjoying the end of summer, but these warm days will quickly become distant memories as winter arrives. Soon, leaves will turn golden, the holly and rowan berries will be red, and Christmas décor will appear in the stores – you can’t escape the changing seasons!

Even if you are lucky enough to live in a warmer climate, you will probably be ready for a change of scenery (and people?) come February 2024. Next year, you can cruise the Caribbean with KLENK-IEP, enjoy sea breezes, catch some rays, and mingle with fellow lovers of all things Estonian! This is our fourth KLENK cruise, so we know what we’re doing, and we need you to make it a success!

KLENK-IEP has secured staterooms for the February 25, 2024, sailing of Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas, one of the world’s largest cruise ships. Yes, it will require more walking than the smaller ship we sailed in 2019, BUT the larger ship brings more restaurant choices, activities, and lounges where you can meet and mingle with fellow KLENK-IEP cruisers. The details of what the ship has to offer can be found here. Our cruise will depart from Miami, an iconic Florida city. KLENK-IEP will not be reserving rooms in Miami, so we encourage you to explore hotels and private rentals as soon as you book your cruise. Details of this 7-night Western Caribbean cruise and cabin choices can be found here.

In addition to new ports to explore and varied ship entertainment available (Diving shows, ice skating, the Broadway Musical “Cats” and a zipline), we have arranged to offer a diverse Estonian Cultural program.

We’ll have a mini–Estonian Music Festival featuring the Veronika Portsmuth choir and Märt Agu with his talented folk dancers.

Well-known Estonian cookbook Author Lia Virkus will speak to us, as well as Katrin Veski, the Estonian cuisine connoisseur who administers the “Estonian Cooking” Facebook page.

Dr. Jaak Rakfeldt will do a presentation on the great 1944 refugee escape. Lively and emotional conversations always follow any discussion of refugees.

Given the events in Ukraine, we are all thinking of Estonia today. We will be eager to hear from Major Vello Tooming, a member of the Estonian Defense Ministry who will present an overview of Estonian Defense strategy and ministry.

This is just a sampling of what we have to offer. Future emails and posts on Facebook will share more of what we have planned. Please note that most presentations will be offered in Estonian and English.

Registration has been open for a while, and some cabin categories are getting limited, so we encourage you to reserve your cabin today for the best choice! A $250 per person refundable deposit is required to confirm a cabin, along with the KLENK-IEP registration fee of $100 per person. Reservations can be made on our website here or by emailing Rein Luning at info@Klenk-iep.com. Payments may be made by credit card, check, or money transfer through Wise.com (account is anne.luning@gmail.com). Confirmations will be issued upon receipt.

Here’s to good times ahead!
