Recently a project that has been in the making for ten years was finally opened – a monument to Estonia’s first president, Konstantin Päts. A public ceremony on the lawn of Estonia Theatre-Opera included a blessing by Lutheran Archbishop Urmas Viilma, Orthodox Senior Priest Aleksander Sarapik, addresses by President Alar Karis, Tallinn Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart, Rein Veidemann, chair of the sculpture selection commitee, Katariina Sofia Päts, great-great granddaughter of the first president.
