Are Today’s Estonian Naiskorporatsioonid (Sororities) Meeting the Needs of Young Estonian Women?

The author previously reviewed the history of Estonian naiskorporatsioonid (sororities), but this article reviews the most recent issues faced by naiskorporatsioonid in addition to why and how the newest one, Sororitas Estoniae, came into being.

An issue that does not exist in Estonia, but exists in sororities outside of Estonia, is whether a member of a sorority (or fraternity) must speak Estonian. In Toronto, one sees how Filiae Patriae still insists on its newest members (rebased, which means “foxes”) speaking some Estonian, whereas Amicitia has more lenient rules.
