3 plants that will give your home a Nordic vibe

Nordic home design is a style that has been propagated widely by the likes of IKEA and JYSK, and it’s easy to see why it has become popular beyond the products of such companies.

The Nordic design characteristics of minimalism, natural materials like wood, and spaces that are light and airy result in an uncluttered, refreshed feeling for those who apply it.

In keeping with Nordic design’s close link to the outdoors, and filling out the aforementioned simple visual layout, is the use of house plants. Perhaps you already keep a few in your home. But if not, here are some that will bring clarity to your living spaces.

1) Norfolk Island Pine (Araucaria heterophylla): Many house plants are actually tropical plants, not those from cool northern regions. The Norfolk Island pine is no exception; it’s related to the monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana) and the island it’s named after is in the Pacific Ocean, between New Zealand and New Caledonia.
