On June 23rd the management of Pan Am/Parapan Am Games joined with Mr. Tom Saras, President and CEO of the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada (NEPMCC) to ask for 20 to 25,000 volunteers and invite us to two days of fun and entertainment, on July 11-12, 2014 at Nathan Phillips Square to kick off the one year count down to the Pan Am Games, held on July 10-26, 2015 and the Parapan Am Games held on August 7-15, 2015.

The event held on Nathan Phillip Square will involve entertainment, Olympic medal winners and basically a good time.

Some facts: There are 41 participating nations from the Americas and the Caribbean, 10,000 athletes and officials playing 36 sports, 15 Parapan Am Games (athletes with handicaps) sports. There are 16 Ontario municipalities hosting training and/or competitions. There will be 250,000 tourists and spectators expected during the Games and 20,000 to 25,000 volunteers needed.

Every structure built for the Games will have a secondary purpose later on,which is why the venues are spread from Niagara Falls to Oshawa and Barrie to Toronto.

The volunteer recruitment is a serious and earnest requirement and that is why this event takes place, because without the help of volunteers the Games wouldn't happen. The volunteers man ticket gates, information booths, musicians are needed and many others. Web site Toronto2015.org/volunteer and you will find out more.

By the way, there are no Estonian athletes, but you can have fun if you have the time.
