The power of taking action (with a little help from the Dragon)

The Year of the Dragon is here! I have personally always looked to either the Spring Equinox or the Lunar New Year more than the beginning of the regular calendar year. I think it’s because December and January are so sleepy and hibernative (is that a word? If not, I am claiming it).

Our brains and bodies don’t have enough sun or Vitamin D to start jumping into action. Therefore, I’m considering the new year to have begun from this point right now.

Traditionally, the changing of the year comes with the ritual of taking stock of the past year and setting intentions for the new one. This has been very much at the forefront for me this year as I just recently returned from a life-changing trip to Maui, Hawaii. Free-diving with whales, camping in the jungle, RV-ing all over the island. I didn’t have time to think and yet I did a lot of thinking. I know, it’s a paradox.

The whole journey was a whirlwind of an adventure, which part of me doesn’t even believe was real. After getting back in time for a snowstorm (the only one to hit Vancouver), I started to ask myself the following questions:

-How do I want to live my life this year?

-What do I want to create for myself this year?

-What do I want to create for others/the community this year?

-How do I want to show up for myself and my dreams?

...We keep forgetting (or maybe we fail to recognize) that not taking action is also an action. It’s a choice.
