National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada celebrates Canada Day and American Independence Day

Tom Saras, President of NEPMCC brought together a group of politicians, mainly Ontario provincial past and present police officers and the newly minted Ontario Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown.

Because it was a celebration Brown did not give a political speech. But he point out this week that the cost of servicing Ontario's debt is taking money away from health and education and perhaps other front line services. He did not mention that the Ontario Liberals' (mostly under Dalton McGuinty) financial mismanagement has put Ontario in a financial pickle.

Others, like Liberal MPP's Sue Wong, Bas Balasingham, were there including Liberal candidate and ex-Toronto police chief Bill Blair beaming his trademark smile and also showing his trademark memory, remembering names of people he hadn't seen for decades.

The Provincial New Democratic Party Deputy Leader Singh gave a rousing speech as did a Toronto Police Service Inspector, a York Police Service Inspector, and Sgt Chiang who is adding Estonian to his eight languages whether he wants to or not.

As usual Tom Saras and Executive Secretary Maria Saras-Voutsinas as well as Manila Times Editor Ricky Casavides throw a good party.
